26 May, 1959 Morton was commisioned in Charlston, South Carolina  and joined the fleet as a modern US Navy Destroyer. A multi purpose destroyer made for ASW, AAW and surface warfare as well as any other duty assigned to a destroyer.  This is  a copy of an original program sent in by Bill Mikuski who was an RM2 and a plankowner. Many thanks to Bill for keeping this in such good condition so future generations could have a glimpse of that proud day for these plankowners.
