William C. Fox
WILLIAM C. FOX served as the 14th Commanding Officer of USS
MORTON commanding her from 15 December 1978 until 19 January
1981.

     A native of Philadelphia, PA, FOX graduated from St. Joseph's
University in 1959. Upon completion of OCS in Newport, RI in May
1961, he was commissioned Ensign USNR. He retired from active duty
as Captain, USN in July 1991. Personal decorations included the
Bronze Star Medal with "V", the Air Medal, 3 Meritorious Service
Medals, 2 Navy Commendation Medals, and the RVN Honor Medal
1st/c.

     Assignments which helped prepare Fox for his tour as CO included
duty in USS OXFORD(AG159), USS AEOLUS(ARC3), USS
DALE(DLG19), USS LEONARD F. MASON(DD852), USS JOHN A.
BOLE(DD755), USS McKEAN(DD784) and as CSO DESRON 7.
Assignments ashore included duty at BUPERS and Staff, CINCPACFL
T. FOX served as an Advisor with the DELTA NAVAL ADVISORY GROUP in Ben Luc and Binh-Thuy.
He attended the Naval Destroyer School in class 13 and returned for both PXO and PCO courses.
Fox graduated from the ARMED FORCES STAFF COLLEGE.

     After leaving USS MORTON, FOX served at COMNAVSURFPAC, COMFLTRAGRU San Diego, as
CO PERSONNEL SUPPORT ACTIVITY San Diego and as COMMANDER FLEACTS CHINHAE,
Korea. His final tour was as Inspector General, NA VSPECW ARC OM.
 
     In retirement FOX attended the University of San Diego, obtaining a teaching credential and a MEd.
He has taught secondary science for more than 10 years in Escondido, CA. He is married to MARCI,
has seven children and four grandchildren. He still resides in Bonita, CA.
